There has been plenty of speculation about locksmith qualifications and which training company is the best choice for you and the truth is that until recently there wasn’t actually a recognised locksmithing qualification. The only one that exists at the moment is a level 2 qualification which is actually part of a newly launched apprenticeship scheme.

It is important that you understand that locksmithing is not a get rich quick type of job and is actually a long term career path. It is the type of job where you never stop learning and takes years to learn all of the knowledge required. Although some training companies boast that they offer a short course and you will be a fully qualified locksmith, this isn’t the case and the training you receive will be basic and results in shoddy workmanship, no customer will give repeat business if the work you carry out is shoddy, this is one of the reasons the locksmithing apprenticeship was introduced.

If you decide that locksmithing is a career path you want to take then make sure that you take a few things in to consideration when it comes to choosing where you are going to receive your training.

Make sure you choose your training provider carefully, don’t just choose the cheapest as they will be a reason they are cheap. In this case quality is a lot more important
Make sure you research what is involved in your course for the price that you are paying.
Get testimonial from the company, ask as many questions as possible to find out what is going to work the best for you.
